The yeast knockout collection is a collection of ~4700 (S. cerevisiae) strains, each of them engineered to contain a precise deletion of a single non-essential gene. Four different knockout collections exist:

  • Haploid, of mating type "a"
  • Haploid, of mating type "alpha"
  • Diploid, heterozygous knockout
  • Haploid, homozygous knockout
We have sequenced the whole genome of the large majority of strains in the homozygous diploid knockout collection and generated a “genome-instability profile” for each of them.
